Automation triggers, conditions, and actions reference
A lookup guide for the building blocks of an automation.
A lookup guide for the building blocks of an automation.
Every automation is made of the same three building blocks. Here's what each supports.
Follow these steps:
Triggers — the event that starts a rule: record created, record updated, status changed, form/questionnaire submitted, timesheet submitted/approved, attendance event, and scheduled (cron) time. Scheduled rules run on a calendar.
Conditions — filters on the triggering event: which department/workspace, which person/role, which record type, field values, and date/time windows. All conditions must be true for the rule to fire.
Actions — what runs when the rule fires: send a notification or message, create or update a record, create a task, change a status, or trigger another integration.
Scope — rules can be workspace-wide or limited to departments/projects; scope works like classification precedence.
Run history — the Logs tab shows each run, its status (success/failure), and its error message.
