How app updates work, and who approves an expanded permission request

What happens when an app ships a new version — and when a human has to approve it.

Apps update regularly. Most updates apply automatically, but an update that asks for new, expanded permissions pauses until an authorized person approves it.

Follow these steps:

1. Open Apps > Updates to see the update queue.

2. Review each pending update — version, changes, and what permissions it now requests.

3. If no new permissions are requested, the update applies automatically.

4. If expanded permissions are requested, the update is held for approval.

5. Approve it — the appropriate admin/owner reviews and approves; the update then applies.

6. If you're unsure about new permissions, check the permission catalog in Settings > Access Control before approving.

7. Users see the new version on their next load after the update applies.
