Enroll a Mac or Windows computer so it can report application activity.

What this does

Installs the Staffintra Desktop Agent on your computer, which reports which native application is in the foreground while you're clocked in.

Who can do this

Any employee, for their own device — productivity tracking must be enabled for the workspace first (an admin does that once, in Settings > Activity & Privacy).

Before you start

Productivity/activity tracking must be turned on for your workspace (see "How to configure productivity tracking").

Steps

  1. Go to My Devices.

  2. Follow the install stepper for your operating system (macOS or Windows).

  3. On macOS, grant Screen Recording permission when prompted — this is what allows the agent to see which application is focused.

  4. Confirm the device shows as enrolled and connected on the My Devices page.

What happens next

The agent starts tracking your foreground application the next time you clock in, and stops the moment you clock out — it does not run continuously in the background regardless of clock state.

Important notes

  • Application tracking specifically needs Screen Recording permission on macOS. Accessibility is a separate, optional permission that only affects keyboard/mouse counts — you do not need it for application tracking to work.

  • On Windows there is no equivalent permission prompt — tracking starts working as soon as the agent is installed and you're clocked in.

  • Tracking only runs while you are clocked in.

Troubleshooting

  • The agent shows as Offline — see "Desktop Agent Offline" in Troubleshooting.

  • Applications never show up in My Productivity — see "Applications not showing in My Productivity" in Troubleshooting.
